AI document scan

The history report reads itself — and flags what you must disclose.

You already buy the vehicle history report. Lot Jacket's AI reads it, files it in the deal jacket, and connects what it finds to Ontario's section 42 written disclosures — the $3,000 accident line, the daily-rental line, the brands — before the contract is signed, not after the complaint.

The short version Drop the history report you purchased into the deal. The AI reads it, files it, and flags every finding that Ontario law requires you to disclose in writing on the contract — because a disclosure that isn't in the file didn't happen. The report, the flags, and the disclosures all live in the same jacket.

Why this is a compliance feature, not a convenience

Section 42 of O. Reg. 333/08 lists roughly two dozen things that must be disclosed in writing on the contract — past accident repairs over $3,000, structural damage, use as a daily rental or taxi, salvage and rebuilt brands, odometer problems, and more. Missing disclosures are where most complaints start, and the history report is the document that surfaces most of them. Reading it carefully on every deal is exactly the kind of work that slips on a busy Saturday. So Lot Jacket does the reading. For the full disclosure list, see the OMVIC deal file checklist.

What the scanner does with every report

  • Verifies the vehicle. The report's VIN is matched against the deal, so the right history is in the right jacket.
  • Flags disclosure triggers. Findings that cross section 42's lines are flagged on the deal — and carried onto the bill of sale as written disclosures.
  • Files the evidence. The report itself is stored in the deal file, backing up what you disclosed, for the full six-year retention period.
  • Works with what you already buy. You purchase reports from your provider exactly as you do today — Lot Jacket reads them.

Straight answers

What does Lot Jacket's vehicle history scanner do?
Drop the vehicle history report you already purchased — such as a CARFAX Canada report — into the deal, and the AI reads it, files it in the deal jacket, and flags the findings that trigger Ontario's mandatory written disclosures, like accident repairs over $3,000, daily rental use, or title brands.
Why does the history report matter for OMVIC compliance?
Section 42 of O. Reg. 333/08 requires roughly two dozen disclosures in writing on the contract, including past accident repairs over $3,000, structural damage, daily rental or taxi use, and salvage or rebuilt brands. The history report is the document that surfaces most of them, and it belongs in the deal file backing up what you disclosed.
Do I still need to buy the history report myself?
Yes. You purchase vehicle history reports from your provider as you do today. Lot Jacket reads the report you bought, files it in the right deal, and connects its findings to the disclosures on your bill of sale.
Is Lot Jacket affiliated with CARFAX?
No. CARFAX is a registered trademark of CARFAX Canada ULC. Lot Jacket is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by CARFAX Canada. Lot Jacket works with the vehicle history reports dealers purchase from their chosen provider.
